New iPad Pro, Vision Pro, and MacBook Pro Expected in October Lineup
Apple is reportedly just days away from unveiling its next generation of devices powered by the new M5 chip. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant plans to announce upgraded versions of the iPad Pro, a refreshed Vision Pro headset with a redesigned strap, and a new base model MacBook Pro — all featuring the latest Apple silicon — as early as this week.
The update would mark Apple’s first major product announcement since the iPhone 17 launch, signaling the company’s continued focus on performance and efficiency gains through its in-house processors. The M5 chip is expected to deliver faster speeds, better energy management, and improved AI and graphics performance.
M5 MacBook Pro Set for Earlier Release Than Expected
For months, speculation about the M5 MacBook Pro’s launch window has shifted between early 2026 and a fall 2025 debut. Gurman now reports that Apple has moved faster than anticipated, with mass production of the new MacBook Pro already underway.
A key indicator of the upcoming launch is the dwindling stock of M4 MacBook Pros in Apple retail stores, while higher-end M4 Pro and M4 Max models remain available. This trend suggests Apple is preparing to phase out the entry-level M4 systems in favor of the M5 lineup. Gurman added that the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips will not be ready in large quantities until early next year, meaning higher-end MacBook configurations will follow later in 2026.
Apple Shifts Toward Subtle Product Announcements
Unlike its high-profile iPhone 17 event last month, Apple is not expected to host a live presentation for these upcoming releases. Instead, the company is likely to unveil its October lineup through online press releases and promotional videos — a strategy it used last year when launching the current MacBook Pro.
The M5-powered devices are expected to build on Apple’s focus on seamless integration between its ecosystem and its growing portfolio of AI and spatial computing products. The Vision Pro’s updated strap design also hints at user comfort improvements following early feedback from developers and consumers.
Looking Ahead
If Apple’s timing holds, the M5 launch would extend the company’s rapid chip innovation cycle, which has consistently pushed its Mac and iPad hardware ahead of rivals in performance and efficiency. With mass production already underway and stock levels signaling a transition, the wait for Apple’s newest silicon appears to be nearly over.
